Our Star, the Sun

The Sun is a star, just like the tiny lights you see at night. It looks bigger and brighter because it is much closer to us.

The Sun is so big that about one million Earths could fit inside it. It gives us light and warmth, and plants use its light to grow.

Never look straight at the Sun, even with sunglasses. It can hurt your eyes.

Try this: Put a pencil in the ground on a sunny day. Mark where its shadow falls every hour. What happens to the shadow?
